Rant. Topic medical

I have been mildly anemic for about 6 years now. Every three months or so, I'd get another blood test and the Doc would say "oh just take some iron pills." I would reply "I AM taking iron pills and have been for years, they are not working." About 3 years ago I pointed this out to my Doctors and suggested maybe it was time to try something else.

To be fair my health is somewhat fubar and there is always something need of treatment. However since anemia is a base cause of (or the result of?) these illnesses one would think that treating it would help. My energy levels got so low I had to shut down my web business. I couldn't keep up.

Last month I hit one of my worst flares (from Fibormyalgia) in years, and it tanked my blood levels. So now I'm getting seven IV iron treatments to fix the problem. It seems to be working, I'm at the half way point and I'm starting to feel better.

I just can't decide if I should be pissed that this wasn't done earlier and maybe saved my business; or happy that I am getting better.

IGOR swap

I just sent off my package for the Igor Swap from Ravelry's Ankh-Morpork Knitters Guild. This swap is based on the Igors of Terry Prachett's discworld. Lisping and body parts for all!

Can't put up pictures of the things I made yet, I want them to be a surprise for my partner.

HSKS7 Blogs

After spending the weekend looking through everyone's blogs, I have decided that it would be best to make Felly her own blog. It seems to work better and won't confuse people who are on this blog for the art.

Felly's Blog can be found at http://felulapinkstone.blogspot.com/.

I will post a note here when I update Felly as I'm not sure who to contact about changing it on the HSKS7 site.

HsKs7 and what it means.

I've joined HSKS 7 or Hogwarts Sock Knit Swap. For those of you who don't know what this is check out the HSKS site. All posts for this swap will be labeled/tagged with HSKS7. They will also contain a picture of my HP character Felly (Felula) Pinkstone.

I'm a new member of the Hufflepuff house and still getting a feel for the whole thing. Our headgirl has asked that we put the HSKS7 banner on our blogs, make a wishlist (I think I have it working) and list any allergies.

Food wise I'm allergic to mushrooms, paprika and MSG.
Fiber wise I'm allergic sheep wool. I can knit and spin with it but I can't wear it at all. I also have Fibromyalgia which (in this case) means all the clothes I wear need to be soft.

A bit about Felly:

Felly is a second generation witch. Both her parents still have contact with their muggle families though they keep this quiet. They also were Puffs and are happy to see Felly following in their footsteps.

Her name was shortened to Felly as her grandmother Felula is still alive, kicking, purple haired and red hatted. Felly's favorite gift ever is the teal lipstick she got from Granny Felula.

Felly is often caught singing under her breath and sketching in her moleskin.

More to come. :-)

The long wait for an update.

I haven't posted in a while, mainly because there hasn't been a lot to post. Art wise things hit a slow down over the summer. The one piece I finished was an abstract wall hanging called Volcanic Core. (Shown Left) This is a knitted piece done in everything from pure wool to ribbon yarn. I gave it to Mom and Dad as a house warming gift. Mom suggested I enter it in a Silvermine Juried Show. I did and while it wasn't accepted I've been encouraged to do more. One thing I did learn is to back pieces like this to help hold the shape. You can't really tell from this picture but there are beads on a few of the panels which add to the weight of the piece.

I've started the second piece called Icelandic Core. A very rough strach is shown on the right. It is based on an Iceburg. I'm about half way done with the base or "water" level. It is made with Brown Sheep's lamb's pride and done in the standard knitting stitch. However this is broken up with sections of all purl or all knitted rows. This is to give the impresstion of waves.
